  1. This is awesome guys!!!
It’s a pity that us folks that aren’t from the uni can’t come be involved.
I hope you continue to have a successdul day.

  2. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. You are deprieving an education to people who work very hard to be here. The trynny of minority is not going to help your cause.

Now get out of the lecture theatre and go back to university.

  3. Is that Tory Bear satirical? I hope so.
Well done kids and who ever said Edinburgh uni was an apathetic apolitical wasteland was talking mince. 😀
    Solidarity from glasgow!

  4. Fucking hippies. I am ashamed to be at a university with so many smelly hippies. I trust the Senatus does the right thing and brings these students up before a disciplinary committee to answer for their action, and expels them. Vivat Academia!

  5. While I did originally had no problem with these people, I strolled in to visit a friend only to realise that the lecture hall was filled with 30 smelly hippies trying to speak for 33,000 people by forcing the university to change policies, as well as bankrupting the university by demand that it refuses funding from BAE et al. I trust the Senatus does the right thing and brings these hippies up before a disciplinary committee and expels them. Vivat Academia!

  6. These long-haired, tree-hugging, hippified communists are bringing shame onto our university; disrupting the eduction of hard-working students who face essay deadlines soon; and are attempting to say they speak for the whole of our Uni. They represent 0.001% of it…

Their demands are pathetic. EUSA AGM voted on Eden Springs in 2007 and the vote FAILED. They voted on corporate investments and the vote FAILED. There are people all around the world who need to get scholarships to Edinburgh Uni – but you want special treatment for Palestinians? And then you include your own selfish interests as the final demand!! Nice to see that courage is one of your strong points… oh no wait, it isn’t, your just watching your own backs.

The University should expel all these disgraceful vagrants ASAP.

  7. Come on guys… are 30 students in any way representative of the Uni as a whole?
How dare you try to foist your views on the majority.
Happily it looks like the Uni has left you in the GSLT to play with yourselves, and carried on with educatin’ folks… 😉

  8. Provided the University does not change policy, and provided no student’s learning is affected, and provided the protesters stop claiming they speak for Edinburgh students – then it’s abidable.

If the University does give in to some of their demands, it simply makes the crass politics of intimidation and militancy justifiable.

  9. A message of solidarity from Napier University here. Congratulations on your principled stance on this issue and wishing you all the best in securing your demands. There will be a delegation from Napier visiting you tomorrow to give you support.

  10. Interesting to see the delegations of visitors from various other student-led occupations. It’s a shame that hard-working students, whose views happen to be different to those of the ‘occupiers’ and who happen to be the majority, weren’t able to get the same access to their lectures yesterday, due to this outrageous leftist stunt.

  11. Dr Ellis… can you, being qualified as you are, confirm how many occupations were held opposing the Hamas rocket strikes of 2008…

  12. The Secretary of the University has fully vindicated the occupying students’ repeated assertion that their actions have not disrupted student lectures. In his latest response to the group Mr Cornish referred to “the absence of disruption to teaching” as reason enough not to discipline the participating students.

Stop peddling this lie. Open a constructive discussion, as the occupiers have, or go away.

  13. Those who oppose this can’t actually come up with any counter arguments to this other than false statements about cancelled lectures and charactureing those involved to stoke their own prejudices?

  14. Perhaps those who oppose your nonsense of a ‘protest’ might occupy the GST next week? You’ve opened no constructive discussion at all.

Disruption has occurred: lectures have been moved, and 2 cancelled.

If the Uni aren’t going to discipline you, it’s very disappointing.

  15. … plus I suspect a bit of politicking on Mr Cornish’s behalf too.

  16. hi,
a couple of suggestions – please add links to the other occupations, queen mary in london has most of the links
the second suggestion is that the demands should also include, the promotion and creation of a course on palestine, and it should be included as a course offered to all students in all subjects and go towards their degree , and should be actively promoted

  17. Heyy,
My name is Semma i am a palestinian student and all i have to say is thanks to everyone participating and the show of support…
    you all are amazing!

**I’ll be sure to show as many students as possible!

  18. I personally think that this entire operation was a failure and a sham! Never in my life would I expect so called educated students to be so ridiculous and downright selfish. Your peaceful protest disrupted the education of many, and absorbed the time of hard working university staff who were forced to relocate lectures for those of us who want to learn. This is an adult and academic environment which should not pander to the petty demands of this minority group. How dare 30 students think they have the right to hinder other individuals progress. If the university has any sense it will remove these people from education and put a lawful ban on any future attempts to cause mayhem, waste peoples time and generally piss off the rest of the student body. If you want to have a meaningless and frankly pointless protest-Do it in your own time and for petes sake, your own space!!!! Idiots!

  19. Bloody idiots! You should all be in jail! Get a bloody life!

  20. No blood For Edin Burgh Education
